Dog Packpacks and Crowdfunding Success in this Buzztilt Review!

buzztilt reviewBuzztilt Review: Dog Packpacks and Crowdfunding Success!

In this Buzztilt Review learn how we helped these Stylish Dog Backpacks came to life with a successful Kickstarter PR crowdfunding campaign. This was one of our favorite projects that we’ve worked on. It was an incredibly fun product and who doesn’t love dogs? Stylish Dogs with backpacks? Count us in 100%.

Maggie Modena’s Pups Who Pack on Kickstarter: “Enjoy what your dog’s wearing as much as they enjoy their walk! Let them pack their own treats, doggy bags, water, hoodie and toys.”

Seriously, watch this video and fall in love:

Maggie Modena is an incredible designer from Madison, Wisconsin who blended her previous experience making ‘human-sized’ backpacks with a fun pint-sized backpack for her furry friends.

Clip your leash to the back of the bag and take your pups for a walk just as you would with a collar or harness. Only now you can pack some goodies and look extra cute. We’ve all seen the helper style saddle bags for dogs, but this dog backpack is equally as stylish as it is functional. Let them pack their own treats, doggy bags, water, hoodie and toys and look good doing it. It makes you smile watching them pack around their stuff (my favorite part). Being a pug and frenchie owner and a backpack designer, the dog backpack was an inevitable adventure.

We jumped on the campaign about a week in. This had all the makings of a great PR story- it was fun, it was cute, and the project was just asking to go viral on the media. There are certain elements we look for on campaigns, an innovative product, a great founder, founding story, and that special ‘IT’ factor that causes certain crowdfunding campaigns to just take off.

When we jump on a campaign to work with a client we take a two step approach. One, we begin writing a press release that captures all the elements of the story and serves as a great incentive for the press to jump on. The second is we take a targeted approach to certain news media outlets and blogs where we know certain projects would best play at.

This project was near the holiday season which meant there was going to be all sorts of ‘best of’ lists and holiday shopping guides. For this project we wanted to try and score placement on these lists, dog blogs and media outlets, and other media outlets looking for fun projects. A Dog in a Backpack story is just asking to be shared so we set out to make that happen. We distributed their press release we wrote far and wide. Then we got to pitching this story to all the major news media, press, reporters, and bloggers.

THE RESULTS:

The dog backpack was a runaway viral success. The media couldn’t get enough of this cute project. A backpack for dogs? This was the must have product for dog owners everywhere. Take your dog to the park and let them carry their own snacks and water. For dog lovers, it doesn’t get better than this.

Maggie had a brilliant strategy leading up to the campaign launch. She also reached out to influential and popular #dogsofInstagram to line up product placements so these Insta-Famous dogs could be the first to wear and share with their large following. She also was simultaneously pitching this story alongside us on her way to an incredibly successful campaign which hit its raise goal of $8500+.

Here at Buzztilt the work doesn’t stop when a campaign ends. We’ll continue to field inbound leads and as often happens, we’ll get media requests long after a campaign is successful and has already moved on the next phase of their company. Such was the case of the Maggie Modena Dog Backpack. A few months later an editor from a prominent dog blog reached out to us inquiring about the product.

We got in contact with Maggie and set up the meeting so they could review a unit and share with their readers. This is an example of the extra mile we go for our clients. Once you’re a part of the Buzztilt team, we want you to feel like family and we’ll do anything we can to assist your campaign and project not only when funding but even after. It isn’t uncommon for us to get requests to run general level PR for campaigns long after a campaign is over. It was a great pleasure to work with Maggie Modena on her Dog Pack campaign.
